
Call for applications. Internship for Internationalisation in Human Rights. Basque Government – UN Etxea
UN Etxea and the Directorate of Human Rights and Victims’ Assistance of the Basque Government offer an internship with the aim of providing professional experience at the Headquarters of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva, Switzerland. This fellowship will be carried out in the Children and Youth Rights Unit.
GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
The beneficiaries of the fellowship will work at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) for a period of 6 months, from July to December 2025. The fellowship has a financial endowment of €18,000 gross.
The fellowship includes a pre-training course on the United Nations. This training will be provided by UN Etxea prior to joining OHCHR.
The award and enjoyment of the fellowship will in no case generate a contractual relationship between the fellowship holder and the fellowship-granting entity or the organisation where the professional stay (OHCHR) is carried out.
FELLOWSHIP FOR THE CHILDREN AND YOUTH RIGHTS UNIT.
Requirements:
- Registration in the Basque Autonomous Community.
- Under 30 years of age.
- Undergraduate or postgraduate studies, obtained in the last two years, in the following areas: law, international relations, sustainable development, humanities, social sciences, political sciences or a related discipline.
- Excellent knowledge of English. Knowledge of French would be an asset.
- Good ability to collect, synthesise and analyse information from a variety of sources and to write documents in a clear and concise manner.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with civil society partners, government representatives and United Nations staff.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office. Knowledge of Canva and other communications design tools would be an asset.
- Preference will be given to those who have not previously held a UN Etxea fellowship.
