Give me 1 minute of SCIENCE. The competition is on!
In 2026, in its 17th edition, the competition is entitled “Give me 1 minute of – SCIENCE”.
This edition will recognise and award the best one-minute audiovisual works that promote, defend and raise awareness of the human right to science.
Science must serve all people and respect human rights.
This means ensuring that everyone can benefit from its advances, encouraging the participation of the whole of society, and recognising the diversity of ways in which knowledge is generated.
It also involves protecting scientific work and ensuring that evidence-based information can counter disinformation and attempts to manipulate it.
To speak of the right to science is to speak of everyone’s right to access scientific knowledge, to benefit from its advances and to participate in debates and decisions relating to science and technology. It also involves supporting research, sharing knowledge between countries and ensuring that science contributes to the well-being of society.
This right is more important today than ever before. Scientific and technological advances are having an ever-greater influence on our daily lives, on health, the environment, politics and the economy. At the same time, there is a growing spread of false information and messages that question scientific knowledge without a solid basis. It is therefore essential to promote science that is rigorous, accessible and open to the public, helping people to make informed decisions and tackle the challenges of our time.
Science must be a shared tool for building a fairer and more sustainable future.
The deadline for registration and submission of videos will remain open until 31 January 2027. (inclusive).
The Jury will particularly value:
- Videos that encourage reflection on the right to science, understood as a human right that should benefit all people and contribute to the common good. Particular consideration will be given to entries that highlight the importance of ensuring equitable access to knowledge, public participation, the value of scientific research, the fight against disinformation, and the role of science in addressing the social, environmental and technological challenges of our time and building a fairer and more sustainable future.
